Up from the lake in the afternoon, then over to Columbia Finger.
All climbing should be this fun with views this great.
Got snowed on near the top then the sun came out. Super fun climb.
Fun solo, about 1h30 from car to summit. Mostly no-hands-required slabs until near the top.
Easy solo. 1.5 hrs or so from car to summit. Mostly 2nd class.
Weather could not have been better. Hiked up the West face and had a good lunch at the summit.
Thoroughly enjoyable climb
Soloed this climb about a year ago. Great climb! Would not recommend a solo unless you feel comfortable on at LEAST 5.7 trad leads. Be smart.
prolly the 5th or 6th time up this.. set out with the goal tenaya, mathes, cathedral...
got this and mathes.. ran outta daylight for cathedral.. solo with JC..
Fun solo on a cloudless day. Beautiful clean white granite and excellent views !
For the finish I took the rightmost "loose 4th class" variation as per supertopo, since it ended closer to the summit. Nice half-day excursion, though next time I think I'll just drop down the ridge to the trail instead of thrashing down through the boulders & such.
Deb and Blair were awesome partners in crime for this fun romp. Would do laps on it too! Some of the best views in the park!
Thanks to Deb and Dave for the emotional support! Without them I would have never done it...Great Climb
Soloed NW Butt. Awesome rock and views! Loved it
Led/simul-climbed the NW Buttress with Chris Terry while Dave Millar and Joel Bernier soloed it beside us. The climbing was easier than expected. Clean, fun rock, easy pro, and easy routefinding. The 5.7 direct finish was also very fun and secure climbing.
Chris and I descended the SW Ridge, but took a shortcut descent off of the ridge somewhere between the standard route and the West Face route.
really fun cruiser as a wind down day after whitney east butt.
Everything i hoped it would be after gazing at it often from across the lake.
Easily climbed from the south plateau after working at Sunrise High Sierra Camp all summer (with Susan Stubblefield). Then traversed to Tresidder Peak and back to Sunrise to close up camp for the winter.
Awesome solo with my buddy Keith. We then ran over and soloed Cathedral during the last light when the face was orange in the waning light. Awesome.
Hiked up with Maianh ~500 ft away from summit. Then, I ran up and tagged summit solo. Great view of Tenaya Lake, Half Dome. Due to Lembert Dome climb earlier that day we were up there pretty late. Forgot headlamps and were a bit worried of getting stuck up there in the dark. Enjoyed descent route via 3rd class scramble overlooking lake. Hope to return for NW Buttress route one day.
Great fun. Did the 5.7 variation with Tyler aka Chimbo. A little bit of snow and ice left over from last weekend's snow spiced things up just a bit.
