Self Arrest?

I assume this unfotunate climber is the one shown in the other picture. Do you know if he attempted self arrest? How did he injure his leg? By hitting something, or by having his campon catch in the snow while he was speeding down?

Those I spoke to

could give me no other info than what I posted on the Pac NW thread. There was a fair amount of blood in the snow where he stopped so it's possible he managed to injure himself with his crampons or ice ax. I was late to the scene and since his rescuers were working hard to get him down the mountain when I encountered them I didn't bother them for details. The info I posted is from brief conversation with mountain rescue on their way back down the mountain and another climber who also witnessed the fall.
