The beginning of the direct...

The beginning of the direct East Ridge from the 8,350-ft col. It looks pretty forbidding right from the get-go. But the first tall tower is actually easily climbed (5.6 or so). We went around the foreground horn on the left side (5.0). July 23, 2005.
