I left the Cascades before I got to the point that my knees wouldn't quake when contemplating most of these routes. A funny story...me and ExcitableBoy in the pre-dawn darkness, driving his truck to below the North Peak of Index for a winter climb. I hadn't slept a wink...imagining chilled, hyperthermic bivouacs, avalanches in the Great Bowl, all kinds of horrors. Boy was I relieved when the truck got stuck in the snow and we had to turn around. Just wasn't ready...
But ExcitableBoy has been there and back. I am still amazed by his story of a Johannesburg winter attempt. Thanks for writing this up man! +1

Thanks man!
Ha, ha. I remember that attempt well, it was my third winter attempt at Mt. Index and I tore my Marmot windshirt crawling around under the truck putting the chains on.
Just added about 16 pictures and route descriptions to the 'ol corkboard after seeing this. Damn glad to see these routes on the front page with pretty slick descriptive pics. Well done EB

Dan made a good effort here. Much appreciated! This is classic and so true, "I would never suggest to another climber to travel to the Cascades to climb in winter. The weather is simply too fickle.".
But when it is good it canabe simply amazing!
Be worth adding Snoqualmie as well I think. A bumper crop of really good alpine mixed routes there with easy enough access. But GREAT list as is too!

Re: It is curiousI did leave out Baker but included two routes on Colfax and three routes on Shuksan, both of which enjoy the Mount Baker ambiance.
