The East face of Varassova drops steeply into the sea to the south. This crag, accessible from Vasiliki has five routes ranging from V+ to VIII- (UIAA)

thats a very impressive wall...

How tall is it, and is it possible to get to the base from dry land?

About 200m. From there easier slopes lead to the peak (see this photo too). There's a road ending just under the wall. This side (east) of Varássova is not so popular as the west, it only has 5-6 routes compared to 100+

I guess shade in the afternoon, is it ok in summer or too hot ?

Better season for Varassova is spring and autumn. That being said, you can climb in the summer, thought it can get really hot some days. I was there in June, we climbed all day on the west side and got a bit sunburnt, but due to the cool sea breeze I didn’t notice it till too late… Plus you can always dip into the sea...
