The East Ridge of Shimshal Whitehorn

The East Ridge of Shimshal Whitehorn

(1) Route by Richard Ackerly and Bruce Normand in 1999. Ackerley fell to his death close to the summit. Normand thought he had reached the summit but later realised after seeing photos provided by the Germans that he was perhaps 30m below the summit which was some 200m further along the ridge towards the southwest. (a) Summit east of Shimshal Whitehorn, climbed by Normand and Ackerley prior to their attempt of Shimshal Whitehorn. (2) Route climbed by German trio Alexandra and Mattias Robl, together with Markus Tannheimer in 2006. The peak in the far left of the photo (c.6200m) is unnamed. The peak on the right is Chu Kurrti Dast (5700m). The photo was taken from Yazghil Sar.
