The eye of the dragon

The eye of the dragon

A male sand lizard, Lacerta agilis, posing in front of my camera. This is one of the four or five common lizard species in Germany but you rarely see them this colourful. The liitle guy undoubtedly was on his way to a date with his favourite lady lizard when I trouped along and interrupted his romantic plans. No doubt he was extremely annoyed with me - just see the expression in his eye :-) April 8th 2007

difficult

Getting any animal shots is difficult, much less ones of this quality, fantastic.

Re: difficult

This boy kept perfectly still for about a minute. In the end we weren't sure if it was alive. The heartbeats betrayed him, however. Anyway, I took about 10 shots, creeping closer and closer to him - in perfect lizard imitation :-) This is the best shot of the series by far, though it doesn't show the brown back and tail.

Cool lizard!

I love reptiles, lizards especially. This is my favorite shot of yours. Great macro!
