The first four summiters of the day on January 10th 1999. The key is to start early. On the way down we passed about 100 climbers heading up from the normal route. The weather cooperated and was favourable most of the day. Still an Argentine and a Japanese climber lost their lives. One by wearing only one crampon, the other due to exhaustion and being abandoned. The summit of this mountain can leave you with ugly memories. William Marler 1999.
