The Fruits of European Cranberrybush
European Cranberrybush (Viburnum opulus) is also sometimes called Guelder-rose. It grows in Polish mountains up to the elevation of 1000 meters in damp forests and meadows. The fruits ripen from July to August. When they are ripe, they will be bright red. Each fruit has one flat seed inside which is also of red color. The fruit is edible in small quantities, with a very acidic taste. It is however very mildly toxic, and may cause vomiting or diarrhea if eaten in large amounts.
