detailGreat control of foreground and background detail(depth of field). Did you combine two or more images in order to obtain good exposure and focus in both foreground and background?

Re: detailNo, actually I happened to be in the right place at the right time.
The sun was filtered by clouds. As the sun was setting behind me, the "juniper woodlands" below (suddenly) became illuminated with light.
If I had been holding a $75 point & shoot,
I would have obtained the exact same image.
Adding contrast to the image (via computer)
always brings out the edges of the light and
dark areas, bringing depth to the picture.

Re: Agree...Not a secret.
The caption was "borrowed" from the classic
"prog-rock" band Yes.
You gotta take advantage of classic shadows.
They've been with us since the dawning of time.
Thanks for visiting, Dan!

Great Photo!Very nice shot. I'm going to try to hit the desert in between mountains and ice.

Re: Great Photo!(1) Mountains
(2) Ice
(3) The Desert
What a combination! If I could shuffle
between those THREE for the rest of my life,
I'd be a very happy camper.
Thanks, Rob!

Re: Great Photo!Well it is nice living in Cortez where the mountains meet the desert. 1.5 hours to Indian Creek, 2 hours to Silverton, with some fairly nice mountains in the mix.

Re: Great Photo!Yes, I've always heard remarkable things
regarding that area. I need to travel up to
Navajo Lake next year and do some fishing.
I was never much for ice climbing, as I've
been stuck in the desert for the last 17 years.
But, there's a first time for everything!
