You're welcome. For me, Seneca will always be a special place. The Gendarme was one of the first big rockclimbing objectives that I had, and I was fortunate enough to make it there before it fell.

nostalgia!

Nice set of pics that bring back the nostalgia; I remember doing the Gendarme in 1978, and was way to chicken to stand up for more than a half a second. It always looked like it was only held on by one corner, less than a forth of the base....

why not start a page on the world's wackiest pinnacles? There is one a J-Tree which could be included...

I like the idea. Maybe this summer when I have a bit more time or you could do it sooner... Thanks for the comments! It didn't even enter my mind at the time that it might fall. I even climbed the overhanging side the year before it did and shudder to think what could have very easily happened.
