Re: rock quality

Sentinel Peak might be on my to do list coming up, thanks for the heads up. As for being nervous, my survival rule number one is "Look calm, act calm, and be calm". I admit I got it from a movie years ago, but I applied it to mountaineering which it's helped me out quite a few times.

Congrats!

What a crazy trip for you guys; glad it was a success and it was safe. Scary account. I know what you mean about noticing little improvements and feeling conscious of less fear or more confidence on each climb....I love to experience the progression. Hope this experience enables more for you guys too. Have fun!

Re: Congrats!

Thanks runawayreignbow. Tonight I finally added the video to the trip report. It does not portray the scary parts but shows bits of the approach and some of the climbing on the mountain. This experience I think enables me in a positive way, I'm more conscious of future dangerous rappels.

Wild!

Nice climb!, great report. From the top, could you see other, potential approaches one might try? In particular, what did the north ridge look like from the top? Is there likely higher class rock (5.x) at the summit block on that approach? Also, do you recall what the top and south side of the west ridge looked like as a potential route?

Re: Wild!

The entire north face and side of the mountain was covered in clouds. We could see the East Ridge but I didn't pay much attention to it. After doing a search I found a trip report on Cascade Climbers on the North Ridge/ Descent of the East Ridge. The West Ridge didn't seem that good, however I didn't actually go on it so I can't say for sure.
