Windy Keyhole  Sucess!

Super windy! The worst parts were where the Trough meets the Narrows and the Keyhole. Sunny day with no storms. Started at 2:40, summited at 7:15 and finished at 12:10.

Or, given the right weather, start late to avoid the crowds  Sucess!

Left trailhead at 9 am. Summited around 4 pm, made it to the car around 10:30 pm. Hardly saw a person on the way down. 3 L were not enough. Not a cloud in the sky the entire day.

Start early  Sucess!

Finally!  Sucess!

After several attempts called off due to weather and starting too late, it was nice to finally summit! Fun route, but crowded.

Long day, but fun!  Sucess!

Fun hike/scramble in winter conditions. Nobody else on mountain, got caught in blizzard while decending the North Face.

Keyhole Route  Sucess!

Training hike for Mount Elbrus. It was a good day with good weather. Everyone reached the summit and made it back safely. I didn't have the altitudinal nausea I had in 2009, but my feet are a little pissed off.

Quiet snowy hike  Sucess!

Left the TH at 3am and didn't see anyone until the way back down after 8am summit. Trough filled with snow, Narrows and Homestretch snowy and icy, making an axe and crampons pretty useful now, though I got by without the crampons. Great views and exposure in spots.

cold and windy  Sucess!

It was still early in the season with icy conditions on route.
We camped at the boulderfield.

overnite  Sucess!

Hiked up to Jim's grove & camped with Elspeth. Summited the next day and had a foot of new snow before we got back to the car.

First Big Climb  Sucess!

Paul Strykowski and I took a bus from Milwaukee to Denver, stayed in Gobblins Forest, then the Boulder Field and climbed via the keyhole route. First time on the top of a mountain. Nothing's ever like the first time. I was barely 16 years old.
