The most famous of summiters. Lance Armstrong battles Floyd Landis up the brutal 21% grades of Brasstown Bald on April 23, 2005 during the Tour de Georgia.

explanation please !

this picture has to be explained: Is there a bike race on top of this mountain in which Lance Armstrong took part in? Or is he just one of thousands hikers who walked on this montain once? Than it is not worth keeping this picture.

Re: explanation please !

Go to Brasstown Bald. The writing is all over the roads. Anyone who has been on this mountain in the last two years knows the Tour de Georgia finishes on top of this peak, making it the most famous mountain for cycling in North America.

Re: explanation please !

thank you for the explanation and please excuse my European ignorance! I think some facts about the cycling should be given on the main page.

Re: explanation please !

Whoa there... I think that a trip to Brasstown Bald is just a little out of Mathias's reach currently--there are probably hundreds of places that he'd rather go to for the money that it would cost him, not that Brasstown isn't a great place. Take it easy on the guy, and write a slightly clearer caption. He isn't the only ignorant one.

Re: explanation please !

I thought Germans knew their cycling. Particularly since fellow countryman Jens Voigt took 2nd place there last year. If someone has not been to a mountain or has no interest in going there, they should not be claiming that a particular picture on the mountain is not relevant.

Re: explanation please !

I've heard about Tour de Georgia but I am not aware about the course. The low votes were not from me. I looked on the main page, found no info about cycling and therefore I was confused. I think you are the man to write an addition. If someone does a page about French Mont Ventoux he surely should write something about cycling.

Jens Vogt isn't member of a german team so he is a bit out of german media focus.

So this is a good picture for the page, well-catched. I gave 3 stars.
