The North Ridge Route (3rd C

The route outlined, covers most of the North Ridge of Mount Tom Ross. From Lamarck Col, the route follows the ridgeline to the base of the North Face of Tom Ross. As the ridgeline narrows, climb up and then down as short series of blocks and mini-gendarmes, which leads down and around the base of a narrow chute (very solid rock!!). Climbing this "chute" while contouring the North Ridge, eventully leads to the summit. The page author was surprised to find solid, clean granite and enjoyed the exposure as well. Currently, there is NO summit register with the exception of a make shift plastic water bottle. As a side note of interest, the ridgeline in general is an extension of the North Ridge of Mount Tom Ross, whioh continues north to Mount Lamarck, passing Lamarck Col along the way. What makes this an even more enjoyable route is the lack of elevation loss and gain.....compared to the chore of dropping into Darwin Canyon to take on objectives like Mendel and Darwin and then returning the same way! :P
