The Start of Pitch 1

Dave starts up Pitch 1. The pedestal flake was handy (footy) to get a bit higher to access the two cracks--one wide and one thin. This was about 5.6, I think, but Jeff and I found it impossible with heavy packs on. So I followed Dave up sans pack. July 31, 2010.

Yeah, steep. Probably about 80 degrees, maybe 85. Jeff and I couldn't do it with packs on and I did it completely differently than Dave. Dave has a longer reach so could reach a good hold high in the thin crack at right.
