The Torreon in Lincoln, New Mexico

Spanish settlers built the Torreon in Lincoln, New Mexico in the 1850s for protection against Apache raids. The Torreon was used later during the infamous Lincoln County War in 1878 as sharpshooters took up positions inside. Photo taken 2/18/06.
