Surely they arouse mixed feelings but they've been part of the Sudetic landscape for over a century now.
why mixed feelings ?
Man-made but eagerly climbed by many a nature lover (via the stairs, not the sheer walls outside :))
It's the most beautiful tower in the Sudetes I know ! (I also like the wooden one of Czarna Gora)
If you wanted the fact it was built by germans, I think no one really cares nowadays. It's there, it was erected by mountain lovers and that's all !
The problem isn't who erected it but whether or not anything should be built on mountain tops. If you ask me, it depends on which mountains. In the Sudetes, I find most of the towers OK. But just try and put something like this on, say, Babia Góra- BTW You've forgotten the one on Biskupia Kopa (and the famous three-mile downhill ride :))
In my opinion they are OK when the top is under the tree line and they allow the view over ! That's why one over Babia Gora cannot be :)
Thanks for Biskupia Kopa, I added it to my "to cycle" list !
Have you seen my last autumn pics in Gory Bardzkie ?
than this one, which I also have mixed feelings about (ugly, but without it, one couldn't enjoy the great view from the top of Börzsöny)
So all of us seem to agree such towers are welcome in some mountainous areas (although some should be replaced by nicer constructions).
exactly ! (and Pradziad in 1st position :)
I wonder what the Czechs would say.:) Anyway, Eric, you'll soon have enough pix of these towers (or buildings? Sniezka?) topping the Sudetic tops to create an album, which seems a must as far as the Sudetes are concerned.
why not a towers album, not only of the Sudetes ? like for example the cairns album I made !
Might be a good idea. Peter's Borzsony tower would not feel lonely:)
