The triangular face on the...

The triangular face on the left in shade is the south face. The broad face on the right in sun is the east face. The left skyline (SW spur?) has been attempted a couple of times, by US (Steve Swenson et al) and UK (Andy Cave et al) teams in the 80s and 90s. The east face was attempted by Yasushi Yamanoi solo in the 90s. Also, the right skyline, especially above the brown rocky section, is the NE ridge, the 1958 Italian route of first ascent by Bonatti and Mauri. Photo shot in the first rays of sun, after a crystal clear, cold night in C2 (6500m) on GII/GIII normal route. Photo shot from 6850m just before C3.

An amazing photo

Corax, what a picture!
And to think that Bonatti climbed it so many years ago.
Fantastic.

Re: excellent

Thanks!
But it's not even close to your photo of the same peak. That's the best shot I've ever seen of GI.
