The Two Guides

Earlier names for the mountain include the French trappers’ version of the Arapaho word "Nesotaieux". This translates to “The Two Guides”, which is generically how Native Americans knew the mountains, as a landmark from the plains.
Early French trappers apparently referred to Meeker and Longs simply as, “Les Deux Oreilles,” The Two Ears.
