Re: Mild! There is a reason why I did not hike as much in the the Whites as I do now, especially in winter. Typically day on Mount Washington in the winter, the summit is -5 degrees with winds at 80+ miles an hour. Though technical dramatically easier to get to the summit than Rainier by easiest route, Mount Washington weather in winter can often rival Rainier's extreme weather despite the over 8000 foot difference!!!!!

MildYeah, it got worse after we were halfway down.... The winds are always pretty gnarley there but the past three times I've been up it's been nasty! 80-90 intermittently sustained gusts. My legs and back are proof ofhe constant wind-toss in to rock-pile that my body takes regularly up there, like an assault with a baseball bat;)

Re: MildDid you make it to third base ?
Just kidding - I would have wimped out after
the first five minutes. I'd be looking for
a Starbucks with a nice Yule log in the corner.

As much as I love the abuse, there are thoughts throughout the climb of the fire-side couches that illbe sitting on while eating delicious flatbread pizza at a local restaurant :)
