Great pictures and proud send. That is one heck of a route and one of the best real "alpine" climbs in the Sierra when done in winter conditions, you get it all: rock climbing, mixed, steep snow, a little ice, in-route bivy's, interesting route finding, complex approach/decent and a Stone House thrown in for good measure. Plus it is rather close to the road! Next year consider the Winter Chimney!
Thanks, Charles! My buddies and I have all been inspired by your Winter Chimney trip report; I think it's inevitable that we'll try it soon. That and the Michael Strassman Memorial Route.
So've you been! I read about your bushwhacking adventure on SanJ, and I was pleased to just see that it eventually went. The torn gloves really convey the atrociousness of that brush...
NP, hope it's useful. I just read your east face trip report... east face is a super classy way to get that long-awaited top-out! I also totally understand that "crap where's my helmet" feeling. Anytime a feature is called 'death gully' in a topo I seem to be missing one.
I don't know you and Mark except through internet stalking, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that Mark has a no-sleeping-bags-at-bivies fetish. I'll lug an extra kg for good sleep any day :-). I really enjoyed reading about the climb you two did on Humphreys! Also LPP is pretty damn far from the bay area.
I feel like my pack gets big in hurry if I have to choose between additional puffy clothes or a sleeping bag. The puffies aren't quite as warm as a sleeping bag, but if you're going through the night or bad weather they sure are easier wear while climbing! :-)
Thanks, Weston. I'm guessing we'll cross paths through Aaron someday (maybe Tuolumne?). I look forward to reading about that uber shenanigan you and Aaron on planning when you guys send that!
Definitely man, looking forward to it. Tuolumne would be awesome, I have been telling Aaron he needs to make the voyage up for that once everything is in play this summer.
Ah, yes, once weather and non-climbing schedules align the project will come to fruition, and damn it will be sweet! Many more plans are being made for the summer. You gotta be a part of the action north of lone pine!
I don't have much to compare it to yet, but I hear it's one of the coolest moderate winter routes we've got. I was super-psyched to get on it! I'm sure you'll have a go soon :-)

PSSSGreat write-up! Sad that I was with you on the failed "snow-swimming" outing, and not the one that actually succeeded. Maybe next winter :)

Re: PSSSThis trip report accomplished little more than to prove that I'm addicted to this peak. We'll be back, PT!

subroutines?Who the Hell uses them anymore? Use functions and pass a pointer.

Re: subroutines? The Kedrone doesn't know the difference; he merely executes his code. In this case it evaluated to, "we go UP."
