Nice pic.

- Have you climbed Little tahoma? How was it?

- Also, what time of year was the photo taken?

Cheers,

Re: little tahoma beta

I made an attempt; I was with in 1000 ft. It was a very long day, 12 hours. It is an elevation gain of 6000 ft, and you are in the sun almost the whole time. I did it early this summer, and you should. The rock is very bad; we took rope and helmets. We were continually hearing rock fall. You must do it early in the year while there is still snow on the upper parts, you can not climb this rock, and before the crevasses open up. If you ski or snowboard I would recommend bringing your gear so that you may ski down, it is an awesome ride. If you view my other photos you can see that the view form Little Tahoma is unsurpassed, it is so close, and also relatively tall. We were able to see tents and people on the DC route.

I would like to see Little Tahoma be added to the SP mountain directory. What is your interest in Little Tahoma?

Re: little tahoma beta

Thanks for the info.

Was thinking about climbing Little Tahoma next year.

Would like to add it to Summitpost, but don't feel good about offering information on mountains/climbs that I have no personal knowledge off and experience with.

Sure.... I could copy info out of books. But, besides being less than legal, it also wouldn't feel right to adopt a mountain I've only seen and haven't dealt with first hand.

Next year when I climb this thing, if no one has put it on Summitpost, I'll do it for sure.

You might check out Unicorn Peak and The Castle pages. Did adopt these peaks in the Tatoosh range just south of Rainier after climbing around in them a bunch the last few years.

Climbed early in the year in snow and later in the Fall season on dirt/scree. Early was clearly more fun, although that part of the world is beautiful all the time.

Re: little tahoma beta

The Tatoosh Range is very nice; I have spent a good deal of time there. I grew up in Tacoma, and my family has a place out side Rainier, so I have spent many years in and around the park. Most of it has been hiking, but I know the mountain from having studied it on every hike.

I would like to add Little Tahoma, but I do not feel I have enough info as of yet.

I have pictures of maps of Little Tahoma from Topo Zone, if you are interested I can e-mail them to you. You would not want to climb based on them, but it gives you an idea of what the general route is.
