The Thompson Canyon access road provides the primary eastern access to the Big Hatchet Mountains in the Boot Heel of New Mexico. This photo was taken on the early part of the hike to the summit of Big Hatchet Peak (elev. 8,356 ft.), not visible. Photo taken 2/23/08.
