Thunderhead in March
Went up on what was supposed to be a sunny day, but then turned to rain as it often does in the smokys. Got up in time to get some views from Rocky Top and then the clouds took over.

Thunderhead
Made it up Bote Mountain trail in 2h45m. Saw one deer. The better view is from Rocky Top. There is a geological survey marker on top of Thunderhead. There are at least three open areas on the AT. Thunderhead is Survey marked and Rocky Top is the most open with the best views. Not sure about the other. The 2000 mile mark for AT southbounders is lightly painted on the north side of a large rock right on the trail on one of these summits. Great views of Clingmans Dome and beyond, good views into western Carolina too. Views into Cades Cove are much better from Gregorys Bald.

AT NoBo
We still had several miles to go in a sold 15 mile push this day and I celebrated for about 1 second on this summit. Rocky Top had a rattler on top! Thunderhead just had other peak hunters. ;-)
