Timp on September 17, 2005. If you come from the Aspen Grove side you might want to bring crampons, the trail goes right across the snowfield at the base of the cliff face. Timpooneke also has some snowfield crossings, not nearly so long a stretch, but still slippery and icy in the morning. This picture was taken from the trail that heads up to the saddle northwest of the peak.

Crampons are a good idea...

My wife and I also hiked Timp on Sept 17, but we crossed the long snowfield. It was slow going. Crampons would have been useful.
