Tip-Toeing Through The Badlands of Time

Tip-Toeing Through The Badlands of Time

The chalky limestone, pink siltstone and layered tuff of the Verde Formation has eroded into the badlands seen here. The limestones and siltstones were created by a series of lakes that may have been quite shallow, not over 10 to 20 feet deep, and at times were brackish or salty. This photo was taken west of Salt Mine Road, near the AZ city of Camp Verde. It's significant to note the type vegetation growing beneath the cliffs. This is Canotia or Crucifixion Thorn. It grows in thickets, and can be a challenge to the most aggressive of bush-whackers. It's name is derived from the "Crown of Thorns." December 30, 2008

Re: Comprehensive

Thanks, Jacek! My entire life is based on how many stars I receive. : )))

The ground was very muddy when I took this
photo, and I lost my way twice...

Re: Comprehensive

So you must be lucky Larry! I bet millions of stars are within your reach on an AZ night.
As to your effort, if you had't had any eggnog, have some tonight - you do deserve it. (I'll have some Slovak lager though I don't deserve it whatsoever)
Cheers!
