Always...wondered about Toxaway Mountain. I didn't realize the road was paved most of the way.
Interesting that the house there seems very similar in design to the (now empty) ranger residence that accompanies the abandoned fire tower on Bearwallow Mountain. I wonder if the same builder did both houses.

Re: Always...Yeah, the NGS Trails Illustrated map actually shows the last 0.7 mile is a trail along with access to Panthertown trails to the north. None of that is correct. Interesting observation about the cabin. After looking at your pics I'm wondering the same thing. I've found it quite difficult to find any historic info, however.
