Wildcat Ridge Traverse- Oly to Raymond- out Butler Fork w/Jake,Jeremy, Nate.
Wildcat Ridge was worthy of everyone's praise, caution and respect. 13miles,7600' vert. Toughest trek in Utah for me so far. Oly to Raymond and every friggin peak in between :) Vert-pervs love it. Only one slumbering rattler was seen, one cool mountain goat too. Mid-late June seems to be the perfect time, those sporadic snow patches are sent from Heaven. That last climb to Raymond was sent straight from Hell.

Triangle Peak via Neffs / Chadbourne Crag
Neff's to Chadbourne Crag climbing area, then along the ridgeline next to Thomas Fork all the way to the base of Triangle. From there, traversed right (west) along the face down to the notch / couloir to the west of Triangle, and up the spine. Distance up was 3.39 miles according to my Garmin watch, and total time (not moving time) was 3:07 to reach the summit. Descended through North's Fork. I do not recommend that return route. Bushwhacking was unbearable, despite shorter distance. Coming down through Norths Fork (worst, and most slow-going bushwhacking I have ever done) took 2 hours, 13 minutes and it was icy.

Good Views
Very good views of Olympus and of the very long way you have left to go on the Wildcat Ridge Traverse.

Visited as a part of the Wildcat Ridge traverse (and was my main goal for the day). Scrambled up each of the sub-summits for the various views.

climbed as part of the Wildcat Ridge route, WMC hike led by Walt Haas with fellow hikers Sam, Donovan, Bob & Steve. I like this westerly view better than that of Mt Olympus because it includes so much mountainous foreground.

Triangle Peak
5/25/2014 As part of the Wildcat Ridge traverse. Great hike with a great WMC group. A lot of snow on the ridge made for a really long day.
6/9/2013 Climbed as part of the Wildcat Ridge Traverse. With the WMC we traversed from Mt. Olympus to Mt. Raymond. Great route, even considering the +90 degree heat and multiple rattle snake encounters.
10/6/2012 From the Neffs Canyon trail head we went up North's Fork to the summit. From Triangle Peak we traversed over to the South summit of Mt. Olympus, and down the standard Mt. Olympus trail. Fun day with some great ridge scrambling and climbing.

06/20/2008 via Wildcat Ridge traverse from Olympus to Gobbler's Knob
06/23/2007 via Wildcat Ridge traverse from Olympus to Raymond
7/16/11 - Via the Wildcat ridge traverse. Ended the route at Desolation Peak, and descended down Beartrap Fork.
7/2/10 - Via the Wildcat ridge traverse. Ended the route at Little Water Peak, and descended down Mill D North.
6/19/09 - Via the Wildcat ridge traverse. Ended the route at Gobblers Knob, and descended down Butler Fork.
6/20/08 - Second ascent as part of the Wildcat ridge traverse. Ended the route at Gobblers Knob, and descended down Butler Fork. Mosquitos were absolutely horrible.
5/28/05 - My first climb of Triangle Peak, made during the long butt-kicking traverse from Mount Olympus to Mount Raymond. An 11-hour day from the Olympus trailhead (Petes Rock) to the Butler Fork trailhead where I ended the route. Widely varied snow conditions and considerable route finding slowed progress greatly at times.

New route from Neffs
I had been up Triangle many times (93 was my first climb) as part of Wildcat variations and from Hughes Canyon. on This trip we used the Chadbourne Crag trail out of Neff's, after passing the climbing area stuck the ridge going south with minor bushwacking and some interesting scrambling to the northface, used the crack down hill to the left to attain Wildcat and the onto the summit. I believe this was my seventh time up Triangle.

Went from Mount Olympus to the saddle on top of Neff's Canyon and decended to Neff's Canyon Trailhead. One of the most difficult hikes I've done. We saw two rattlesnakes along the way.

TRIANGLE PEAK, From North's Fork
Difficult bushwack that we (bignick) had tried earlier several times from North's Fork, but ended up below Mt. Olympus or in difficult terrain. We also attempted the hike from Mule Hollow in May 2006. We made it up to Peak 9560, but ran out of time. Our return from Triangle was down Heughs canyon, which involved some backtracking and lots of bushwacking. Took a plunge in the creek just below the upper waterfall (the one with the rope). I was so relieved to make it over the waterfall that I wasn't very careful the next 200 feet and slipped.

Triangle Peak
Started at Neffs Canyon trailhead and hiked thru North's Fork. Bushwacked and climbed thru bolder fields to attain the East Ridge and traversed the ridge South near the base of the peak. We dropped down to the West less than a quarter mile and found a break in the headwall, a steep snow filled chute that we climbed to gain the East end of the knife-edged ridge from Olympus. A rocky scramble led to the summit. The most elusive and remote peak I have done on the Wasatch. We decended down Heughs Canyon route finding thru steep cliffs and loose rock. Attaining the upper canyon bottom was no relief as it was barely passable. Steep cliffs and rock on both sides with a narrow extremely heavily vegatated stream and weak snow bridge filled bottom. Two miles of this before we got to the seldom used trail for the last mile out. A fantastic although very tiring adventure.

I climbed this peak while hiking Wildcat Ridge. The most difficult part was between Mount Olympus and Triangle Peak. This involved some 4th class scrambling along a narrow ridgeline. I also ran into two rattlesnakes along the way. I remember hiking up the west ridge of Triangle Peak but not being able to descend the east ridge due to a big dropoff. So we decided to downclimb the south side instead. This is probably one of the most seldom climbed peaks in the Wasatch because of off trail hiking, scrambling, and time required.
