European Beech Tree (Fagus sylvatica) is a deciduous tree belonging to the beech family – Fagaceae. It grows only in mountain forests at 300 – 1300 m altitude. This Beech Tree is 160 years old. The Low Beskid – slope of Mount Przedziwna (Bizarre) – Iwonicz Zdroj - July 31, 2008.

This is

the national tree of Denmark, we have whole forests of them, so they can grow at our low altitudes. In East Jutland they grow right down to the edge of the sea, making for a very pretty contrast.
