Tsey-Hoh (4360 m) and Ularg Peak (4320 m) : The "Back Side"

The sawtooth Tsey Divide is commonly photographed from the East, from the alpine climbing and skiing center of Tsey, Ossetia. The NW side of the divide, dropping preciptously to Songuti Glacier, may be an even more impressive sight. Interestingly, there is a reportedly relatively easy route to the upper reaches of Songuti, bypassing the icefalls by a long gradual traverse from the North. Photo taken on descent from Voologata Cupola. September 1985.

I like

the photos you are digging out of these rather unknown places in the Caucasus. Keep them coming, I enjoy them.

Re: unknown places in the Caucasus

Thanks! I still love the lesser-known mountains, and the snow on them, but there are too few extant glaciers in the neighborhood these days :)

I probably should organize my Caucasus photo collection a bit more throughly than just by the coordinate grid values, but it will take more time...
