Tuff Pinnacles NNE of Manganese Peak

Tuff Pinnacles NNE of Manganese Peak

These "pinnacles" are visible from the descent ridges of Manganese Peak. Each tuff peak is formed by the differential weathering of a layer of the tuff/breccia/andesite flows; if you look closely, you can see the dominant layering between the peaks, trending steeply from upper left to lower right. In the distance, one can see the "spire" that provides orientation for the Cathedral Peaks hike. Snow-covered Virgin Peak is visible in the far distance.
