Re: Looks like fun!

It was...when we hit to top of it...it was almost a downer that it was over. But...Katahdin is coming up soon. I'll probably get my fill of it...or maybe just enough to become a real obsession.

Fun Scramble

This sounds a little like the Beehive but with fewer people and some more scrambling. I'm in Brunswick and this appears to be a great Sunday hike. Where is this mountain?

Re: Fun Scramble

It is a WONDERFUL day hike...wicked bang for the hike.

It is in Weld...my husband figured you could get there (using our handy dandy DeLorme) by catching 201 in Brunswick. Follow into Augusta and keep on this to get to Rte 202. Follow 202 through Manchaster and INTO E. Winthrop and get off on Rte 133. This will take you into Wilton. Catch 156 in Wilton (a left) to Webb Lake where 156 turns into 142. This is a straight shot. At Webb Corner take BYRON rd the right fork...it is a dirt road. There are two main parking areas...both are marked. I THINK the Brook Trail Parking lot is about 2 - 3 miles after this fork and then the Loop Trailhead Parking Lot is 1.3 after this. The trailhead is BEFORE the parking lots about 200 feet...on your right.
