"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Route Climbed: South Slope Date Climbed: Aug 28, 2004Carillon-Tunnabora-Russell-Whitney-Muir dayhike out of Whitney Portal. Russell-Carillon Col via the Rockwell Variation was a bit of a slog--I wish I'd thought to try Cleaver Col.
Tunnabora took longer than I was expecting from Russell-Carillon Col, too--the peak is only a mile from the col, but it manages to squeeze a surprising amount of talus and sand into that distance!
