Remnants of an old ore car tunnel in southern
Nevada, between Lake Mead NRA and the Muddy Mtns.
Wilderness Area. In order to load the Borax onto
the ore cars, they needed to dig this tunnel through
the sandstone. In this area, the sandstone is
'dipping' or tilted up by tectonic activity. The
limestone hills in the distance make up the extreme
western end of Lake Mead's 'Bowl of Fire.'(3-31-08)
