From Blackwood Canyon
From Blackwood Canyon. Parked near the OHV staging area for Blackwood Canyon. Climbed an off-trail route up the south slope and connected with the PCT/TRT trail near a series of switchbacks. From there it was a short walk to the east summit of Twin Peaks. Beautiful weather and no wind. We chose a more direct route on the descent. More bushwacking but not too bad. Total miles 6.8. 3 hrs up. 2:15 hrs down.

Dayhike
Dayhike from Gstaad Rd from where I had numerous tracks for. This TH is no more, with the first half mile down to the creek torn up by foresting equipment and seems to be deterring hikers. I wasn't sure where else to start. This hike was easy, was at the ridge before we knew it and a short while later scrambling up to the peak. Great views and peak area.

With the Sierra Club
Hazy day, but this is an area with lots of interesting sights. Very volcanic looking. Got to drink from a cool mountain stream.
Climbed multiple times in the past couple of years with the pooches. A nice Tahoe vantage point that lets you see all the high country around the lake.

From Blackwood Canyon Sno Park
A longer than expected hike form Blackwood Canyon Sno Park, connected to the TRT south of Twin Peak right before the switchbacks, climbed both of the Twin Peaks then descended cross country in a bit more direct route back to the road. Total of just over 13 miles. Very little snow, didn't even bother with snowshoes. In March. Sad. TR is HERE
My wife and I started at the TRT trailhead midway up Ward Creek Ave; this route has an unnecessarily long approach and was too gradual for my taste; however, the views were great on the upper mountain. I would recommend this route to someone who loves strolling in the forest but not in late summer as the meadows were all dried up when we did it.
After dayhiking Tinker Knob, ran over and did Twin Peaks-even though the summit seemed far away from mt. stanford, hike up took much faster than expected, did with mt. Stanford. GREAT views!
Hiked Twin Peaks from Barker Pass after hitting Barker Peak. Nice cool day in Tahoe to beat the extreme heat in the valley.

Via Stanford Rock-TRT loop
Hiked via the Stanford Rock route up 15N3S and descended via the Tahoe Rim Trail. We found the Stanford Rock-Twin Peak loop to be 14 miles if doing both the Twin Peaks. Group of 7 reached the summit. 3 did both Twin Peaks.

Up from Alpine Meadows
Tried going from Blackwood Canyon Road, but it was still gated shut and snowcovered. Drove over to Alpine Meadows (backside closed) and started there. Signs in the small lot warned of towing if not in the Alpine Residents HOA, luckily no issues. Went up via the saddle between Twin/Stanford. Down a more scenic/enjoyable route, along the ridge north from Twin to 8522 and down to the car.
