Two Greenback Cutthroat Trout

Two Greenback Cutthroat Trout

The greenback cutthroat trout is the state fish of Colorado. It is also an endangered species, recently brought back from near-extinction. Because the lakes in RMNP are so clear, you can often see them along shallow shores. You can fish for them in many places, but it's always catch-and-release only. I like "catching" them on film instead. July 2007.

Nice fish, Arthur..

I need to get off the crazy computer,
and do some fishing. This is a native
fish of CO? I didn't know that. In AZ,
we have the "planted" Rainbows that
everybody takes home with them, but
the limit is always 6. Take care!!

Re: Nice fish, Arthur..

Thanks! My son is the avid fisherman of the family so I just take the pictures and provide tech support:
Mills Lake, RMNP
Snake River, WY

I also have a "one that got away" shot I may put up one of these days, from Odessa Lake (RMNP). Also a greenback, though you can't see it.
