Ice knives

This is really crazy! Would like to see these formations some day in person. Are they ice hard or soft and easily broken? Very nice set of photos from Aconcagua Drazil!

Crazy!! you are right! It is a snowfield blown into those formations by the wind. They are very thick and strong on the bottom wider parts, however quite brittle on top (except when you really want them to break so that you and your enormous pack can get through - then they get stubborn and do not budge!!) Beat climbing up deep, steep scree though.
