One of my favorite hikes in Colorado Springs! Not for the faint of heart!
Started from the Crags Trailhead around 5:30 am. The winds were pretty gusty this morning. Clouds to the west obscured our views of the Sawatch and Mosquito Ranges. Had the summit all to ourselves.
CO County highpoint #24 I think. en route to Pikes via bike.
Not sure if this one counts...
Very easy walk from the parking lot! You can hike from here to Pike's Peak and cut your walk in half compared to Barr Trail or coming from Crags.
Drove up to Pikes Peak, stopped by the Devils Playground for this very short side trip. We got to the toll booth around 7:45 and only had to wait a few minutes, when we exited at 10:00 there was a line of cars a half mile long waiting to get in.
Did during trip to Summit of Pikes via Crags
Quick hike from the car on the way down from Pikes.
Walked down the Devils Playground trail a little ways from the Pikes Peak Highway, then back to the car over the highest rock.
Nice little trip up Pikes... always enjoyable.
Hooray for driveups.
Wife, pup and I after hiking Pikes.
Nabbed the Devils Playground/Teller County Highpoint after summiting Pikes Peak. I also got the higher peak across the road from Teller.
Favorite vantage point for the Annual Pikes Peak Hillclimb.
I had always had some reason for putting off this little side trip, so I finally went for it. Did Pikes and Sachett Mtn. on the same trip. Took the dogs along for a long, but satisfying day.
8/30/2009 & 9/9/2012.
It was the county highpoint I was after so I ended up exploring the whole area and enjoying it while my wife was trying to figure out what the heck I was doing.
Made the side trip up "Devils Playground Peak" while climbing Pikes Peak via the Crags Route.
Looking for a shorter, less-committing day to enjoy with a girlfriend who recently had her second baby, we made our way up to "Devils Playground" from the new Crags TH. The climb gave us both the exercise we needed and the views from the top of "Devils Playground" are pretty nifty. I'm not a county highpointer, but I really enjoyed this outting.
