Re: Wonderful Shot,Thats the east shoulder of Mount Thielsen in the Southern Oregon Cascades, about 40 feet below the actual summit. Its a narrow little rib that kind of just hangs out off ths side of the mountain.

Re: Wonderful Shot,I will do Howlock this summer, but Thielsen is more than I can tackle at this point. Is the entire summit block a class 4? I see the approach is up to a class 3 in parts. Is the shoulder you're on considered 3 or 4? Again, nice photo!

Re: Wonderful Shot,I would say the shoulder is class 2, I honestly sort of ran over to this point to get in the picture at time. The cliffs on either side are a little scary, but its all pretty solid. As for the summit, its about 30-40 feet class 4 max; but in my opinion its pretty easy climbing. Its a short climb with large handholds and a couple nooks and crannies where you can actually stop the climb to let people pass if need be.
I think Howlock was more unnerving than Thielsen if only for the fact that noone was around when I was trying to find a way up its short very loose pinnacle, on Thielsen there were a bunch of people ahead of me so I could see the route. Now that I know the spot to climb up Howlocks pinnacle it wouldnt be as bad, but that 1st time was interesting.
