As far as I know, nobody died here:)

But if I may take your note seriously, the cross was set there in the second part of the year 2006 illegally, without permission of the land officials. The national park officials called for destruction of it, they don't want to break the law. They announced that the cross may have been built to remind the two climbers who died in slopes of Slavkovsky very long ago. They recommended, that for such a reminder serves in the Tatras the symbolic cemetery at the lake Popradske pleso.

Far more probable that the cross was set here for religious reasons.

I'm glad you attached it to your nice album. I was really happy summiting this peak. There was no wind, not cold, beautifil weather. There is usually no avalanche danger on the route. I was there with my best friend. The only danger was in darkness coming very soon after our summit. But we catched it safefully, it was absolutely superb hike. Cheers Tomas :)
