Lands End is on the western side of Canyonlands. A dirt road of 45 miles gets you to the Hans Flat Ranger station and another 15 miles gets you close to the prominence peak of Lands End. The rangers at Hans Flat said we were the first people they had seen in 5 days and this was over the 4th of July weekend. Considering that it takes 120 miles round trip on dirt roads, you can understand the isolation. The last 15 miles is a high clearance road and very rugged in spots. It took as long to do those 15 miles as it did to do the first 45 miles. The mountains behind me are the Henry's. Mt. Pennell is on the right and we climbed that the next day. 7-7-08
