This pic reminds me that summer is almost here. My goal for 2009 is to hike /climb 68 peaks. As of the end of May, I have 38 left to go to reach this goal. Stay tuned. WHEELER PEAK (NM)What a perfect day to hike this one. I came up via the Williams Lake route 8-2-08

This must be an

obsession for most "high-pointers, along with
Elbert. You are experiencing many different
life zones and vegetation types. I've never
been to the northern half of New Mexico. It
looks like a beautiful setting, for both marmots and people. The weather looked like it was nearly perfect, and I'm especially
glad you didn't TRIP over the marmot.

(I wonder if people are 'monitoring' the
marmot population of the western US.) Seems
like there would be plenty of marmots to
count, keeping a person BUSY for the rest of
eternity. Great summertime summit photo, Dean!

Obsession is the correct word. Northern NM is indeed nice and so were the people there. I really enjoyed the Wheeler Peak area and Taos.
It was interesting to also drive through part of the Philmont Boy Scout area. I hope to go back some time to visit more in that area. Thanks Larry, I always enjoy your comments.

Re: This must be an

Yeah, but I forgot to mention that the orange
cap you are wearing forms an incredible
contrast with the truly natural surroundings.

Awesome.
