OMG ...This is atop Adams? When did they construct
this structure on Adams?
I wish me and my brother had something to
"take shelter in" on Adam's summit in 1983 !!!

It's an old fire-lookout tower, now, as you can see, buried in snow and ice. I, too, wish it were resurrected. It would've been great to get out of that blasting wind! Pretty cool, though.

Re: OMG ...Great Photograph! The Mount Adam's fire lookout was completed in 1920 and then abandoned in 1924. Most of the time it is completely covered over in ice. Occasionally, on low-snow years, it melts-out partially. When I was there, just one stick board was poking up. yeah, felt fortunate to see this ice covered old lookout, esp. considering comments by some of you and others, who said they've never seen it. It was very cool, literally. Gotta get back up there this summer.
