The best use of a monday is to get out and hike. Today I hiked up Sabie Mtn, pretty much a snow covered beauty in the utah desert and what was really neat was that 5 minutes after arriving at a spot to start hiking, fellow SP'er Eric Willhite shows up in his vehicle. Now what makes this interesting is that probably only one or two people a year hike this mountain but here we were, two guys from Washington State who are now living in Utah, meeting on an out of the way and obscure peak independently of each other. Pretty neat. Thanks to that, I had a summit picture taken for me by Eric. Oh, did I mention the mud we had to drive through? Snowmelt can do that. The car wash people won't like the mud I had to leave (sorry guys). 4-6-09

Re: Where is Sabie Peak ?

That's some awesome country to the south of
Vernon. My father took us to Vernon Reservoir
when we were kids. Lots of wild country in
that part of Tooele county.

Watch out for "wood ticks" in the summer.
I went out there, and had to have one
"surgically removed" from an unlikely spot!!!

Re: Where is Sabie Peak ?

Thanks Larry for you additional comments. I have wondered about ticks in the western areas of Utah but so far have not seen many. Eastern Washington is tick heaven in the spring so I'm happy so far. I still check for ticks after every hike as I've had more than my fair share of them.

Re: Where is Sabie Peak ?

Larry, that is an Osprey Stratos 40. I love the thing as it carries so well and allows me to easily add snowshoes if I need it. Here's a link
