Re: Fresh Power!Hi Marlon,
are you doing some cascades volcanoes with ski in the winter-time too?

Re: Fresh Power! You bet your bottom dollar I am!
Except with my gear and all, it's more likely "snow shoes". It's hard to balance and turn with a 30lb pack! What about you?

Re: Fresh Power!I like ski ascents very much. I know that feeling skiing with 30 lbs on the back. ;-) But in the Alps the danger of avalanche is sometimes so high, you have to wear all your rescue stuff with you.
Whats about danger of avalanche in Cascades?
Cheers

Re: Fresh Power! If you trek on the main climbing routes it's not as dangerous, "if" conditions have been stable. Mt. Adams, South route, Mt. Hood South route and Mt. Rainier (up to Camp Muir).
But after a heavy snowfall any route can propose problems. I always check with the "http://www.nwac.us/" before all back county and larger snowfield adventure travel.
