My brother Isaac and I went snowshoeing into the Diamond Peak Wilderness from the Willamette Pass on May 2nd during a beautiful afternoon and evening. It was our first time with roughly 50lb packs apiece and our camp destination was the NW ridge up Diamond Peak. Instead night fell and we found ourselves somewhere near Mount Yoran - I believe we were a quarter mile north of Yoran Lake - where we awoke to heavy snowfall. The weather was unrelenting and so we packed up, hiked roughly another 8 miles out and spent the afternoon in Oakridge's fine brew pub.
