I don't think you got a good view of the entire Great Salt Lake from Box Elder. I've never before heard it described as "a few shallow ponds". It's about 75 miles long.
I rather like obscure peaks, especially the prominent ones. But these were pretty easy ones for this season, I guess, and Box Elder I saw on the highway and decided spur of the moment to climb it...and the Oquirrhs I see from the Bench every day in the distance. Lots of stuff to choose from around here though
I was just up in that area (Brigham City) over Thanksgiving holiday. Man what a beautiful state it is!! Great shots and story, maybe next time on that Powerball
Enjoyed your TR. I'm from Boston (Cambridge) as well. Moved here 60 years ago. My parents both in their 90s still rave about the mountains, glad they picked this place, it's special.

I realized that too about the Salt Lake...definitely a lot bigger and more prominent when I viewed it atop Stansbury Island HP a few weeks later
