Jason's directions are spot on. We found that if you walked up the dirt road to its end (pretty short-straight towards the peak), then hike up the slope (left) to the ridge, it's a lot quicker then taking the whole SW Shoulder in its entirety.
Bring gaiters. They came in handy for the thorny stuff below.
