Val Veni

The first part of the approach to Rifugio Gonella is very scenic, and attracts many day visitors. Up to Lago di Miage, which is only a little bit further up the road from this viewpoint, no special gear is required. In fact, you could safely go there on flip flops. In that respect, we were a little overdressed in our heavy mountain boots. But we knew we would need them later today, on the approach from Lago di Miage to Rifugio Gonella.
